Dermatopathology Quiz Case 212

Mock test: A  45 year old female with linear cord like lesion on lateral side of the trunk. She has a history of rheumatoid arthritis.

 

Clue to the diagnosis: Rope sign-> 


 Image1 - Low power view: The lesion involves full thickness of the dermis.
 
 Image2 - Low power view:  The inflammation extends to the superficial subcutis. Inflammation is more concentrated in the lower part of the dermis.
 
 Image3 -  Palisade of histiocytes and lymphocytes are present around collagen bundles. ( See low power view of the area -> Image 4)
 
 Image4  Arrow pointing to the small granulomas in the lower dermis. These granulomas are basophilic collagen fibres  surrounded by histiocytes and lymphocytes.
