Case history

A 25 year old female with a reddish brown plaque on the shoulder.

Immunohistochemistry showed that most of the tumour cells expressed diffuse positivity for vimentin and smooth muscle actin, but were negative for S-100 protein, desmin and CD34.

   Low power view of a well-circumscribed lesion located in the reticular dermis. The lesion is reaching upto the subcutaneous tissue.
  Low power view of the lesion showing tumour cells swirling around the adnexal structures.
   High power view showing a tumour composed of bland spindle-shaped tumour cells containing an ill-defined, pale eosinophilic cytoplasm and elongated nuclei.
 High power view of the same tumour. The adnexal structures are spared by fascicles of tumour cells.
  High power view : The bland neoplastic cells are arranged in bundles and fascicles.
  High power view : The tumour cells show no evidence of cytologic atypia. No mitotic figures are visible in any of the sections.
  The tumour cells express diffuse positivity for smooth muscle actin.
