Case history

1 year old infant with a nodule on the dorsal aspect of the middle phalanx.

Spot diagnosis.


 

  Image 1 - Low power view: The lesion is confined to the dermis.
 
  Image 2 - There are cellular whorls, sheets and interlacing bundles of eosinophilic spindle cells set in a collagenous backround.
 
  Image 3 - High power view:  Further section showing plump spindle cells in a pink collagenous backround.
 
  Image 4 - Clue to the diagnosis is in this last slide.

 

The typical clinical history and the diagnostic feature in this slide will help you to make the diagnosis immediately.
