Dermatopathology Quiz Case 153

Case history

85 year old woman with a reddish brown nodule on the left side of the neck. The lesion was surgically removed with a wide margin of excision. Microscopic examination of the cervical lymphnodes showed presence of metastatic tumour. These are sections from the tumour.


 Image 1  Low power view. Lesion present throughout the dermis.
 Image 2  Sheets of small cells with hyperchromatic nuclei present.
 Image 3 The cells are small with indistinct cytoplasmic border. The chromatin has a fine   granular, dusty appearance.
 Image 4 High power view. Note the granular chromatin and prominent nucleoli.
